The World famous Harrods Department Store in Knightsbridge London requested a more robust emergency lighting presence on its fabulous Egyptian Staircases. Together with Electrical Engineers, SR Harvey, Poselco Lighting designed and built emergency lighting component chassis's for the antique, tiered, glass lighting fixtures that adorn the staircase areas.
Whereas it is normal to refurbish lighting luminaires back in the Greenford factory, these Harrods's lighting fixtures presented a problem. To remove such visual pieces would be difficult as these walkways are frequented by thousands of people from around the planet each day and if removed, would almost certainly be missed! Couple that to the fact that the luminaires are listed and protected and would definitely not appreciate a lumpy ride in the back of a Contractor's wagon.
The Poselco Lighting team led by Ian Lancaster designed the project in situ then built the chassis and reflector assemblies back at the factory. SR Harvey then mechanically installed the new 3-hour maintained emergency chassis's containing energy efficient lamps, high frequency controlled running gear, 4 cell emergency lighting inverters and battery cells on-site at Harrods.
Poselco offer many flexible services such as these, both in-situ and at the Greenford factory. Our BSI 'Scope' is specifically for the re-engineering of lighting luminaires.
